history

Al Assiouty Sport 2008-2018

Al Assiouty Sport was founded in Assiut in 2008 . The club rose to the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in 2014 after winning the playoffs for promotion games. In the 2017/18 season, the club finished 9th.

Pyramids FC from 2018

In the summer of 2018, the club was taken over by the Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia Turki Al-Sheikh with the aim of establishing a franchise that will dominate Egyptian football in the future. The club was therefore relocated from Assiut to the capital Cairo and renamed Pyramids FC. On June 28, 2018, the former coach of Al Ahly Cairo , Hossam El Badry , was announced as chairman of the club, Ahmed Hassan as spokesman and supervisor of the football team, Hady Khashaba as football director and former Botafogo coach Alberto Valentim as the new coach. In the following transfer period, the club spent more than 40 million euros on new players. Such investments were the highest ever made by an Egyptian or African football team.

In September 2018, Turki Al-Sheikh announced his exit from the project after just three months. The reason for this was alleged insults from opposing fans. On July 4, 2019, the businessman Salem Al Shamsi from the United Arab Emirates bought the association.
