Pyrausta is a Butterfly - genus from the family of Crambidae . Within this family, it is the type genus of the subfamily Pyraustinae .

The habitat of the species of Pyrausta includes meadows, gardens and grassy areas .
Way of life
The species of the genus Pyrausta have developed a variety of forage plants. The caterpillars usually feed near the ground in the woven leaves of the forage plants.

About 75 species are currently counted in the genus Pyrausta . So far, 20 species have been identified in Europe , 14 species are also found in Central Europe .
