The Pyssa ( Russian Пысса ) is a 164 km long left tributary of the Mesen in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .
The Pyssa rises on the border with Arkhangelsk Oblast . Its catchment area of 1160 km² lies between the Mesen in the east and the river system of the Waschka in the west. The Pyssa flows mainly in an easterly direction to the Mesen. From the end of October / beginning of November it is covered by a layer of ice that breaks up in early May. The Pyssa is mainly fed by the snowmelt.
