Qarghaly ( Kazakh Қарғалы Qarğalı , Russian Каргалы Kargaly ; until 2007 Fabrichny ) is a place in southern Kazakhstan in the Almaty region .

Geographical location

Qarghaly is located at the foot of the Transili-Alatau , 50 km southeast of Almaty . It is the administrative center and the only inhabited area in the rural district (okrugi) Qarghaly and is located about 11 km southeast of Usynaghasch .

In 1999 the number of the population was 17,501 (8,268 men and 9,233 women). At the 2009 census, the population was 20,114 people.
