Qingzhou

Qingzhou ( Chinese  青 州市 , Pinyin Qīngzhōu Shì ) is an independent city with about 899,000 inhabitants (end of 2003) and an area of ​​1,569 km² in the east Chinese province of Shandong in the People's Republic of China . It belongs to the administrative area of ​​the district-free city of Weifang . In earlier times it was the capital of the province of Shandong. Standard Chinese is spoken in Qingzhou .

Qingzhou was established on March 30, 1986 after a resolution of the State Council on March 11, 1986, when Yidu County (益都 县) was dissolved. The administrative area of ​​the independent city corresponds exactly to that of the former Yidu County.

Administrative structure

After the municipal area reform of 2007, Qingzhou still consists of three street districts and nine large municipalities at the municipality level . These are:

In 1996, over 200 statues of Buddha were discovered in a hiding place in Qingzhou. These were hidden in the time of Song Huizong Emperor of the Song Dynasty. The emperor was a promoter of Daoism and pursued Buddhism . Most of the found objects are exhibited in the Qingzhou Museum .

Industrial accident

On the night of March 29-30, 2019, a gas leak in the Yongli pearlite factory in Qingzhou caused an explosion that killed at least 5 people.
