Weifang ( Chinese 濰坊市 / 潍坊市 , Pinyin Wéifāng Shì ) is a district-free city in the Chinese province of Shandong . The administrative area of the city has an area of 15,859 km² and a population of approx. 9.36 million inhabitants (end of 2016). The actual urban settlement area of Weifang is home to 1,261,582 people (2010 census). The zip code is 261041.

Weifang is known for its handcrafted kites , which are made in factories here. There is also an international kite festival held in the city every year. In addition to kite production, the regional metropolis also has some food factories.
