The Quatuor Hermès is a string quartet from France founded in 2008.

founding

The members are Omer Bouchez and Elise Liu ( violins ), Yung-Hsin Chang ( viola ) and Anthony Kondo ( violoncello ). They met in 2008 as graduates of the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon . They play instruments by Carlo Tononi and David Tecchler from the early 18th century. The first CDs brought string quartets by Haydn, Beethoven and Schumann. Alfred Brendel sees the ensemble facing a great future.

The quartet has toured Europe, Asia (China, Japan, Taiwan) and South America, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Egypt and Kazakhstan. It has given concerts in the Cité de la musique , the Accademia Filarmonica and France Musique . The musicians are regularly invited to major festivals - in France to the Flâneries musicales de Reims , the Montpellier Festival , the Festival de musique du Périgord Noir and the Festival international de musique de Colmar . In Europe there is also the Cheltenham Music Festival , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival and music festivals in Krzyżowa , Mantua and Lockenhaus . Regularly invited to the United States, the quartet performs at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts or Carnegie's Zankel Hall .

Prices

The Quatuor Hermès has received numerous prestigious awards: Révélation Musicale de l'Année of the Critics' Prize 2014/15; the Nordmetall Ensemble Prize 2013, which is awarded to the best young ensemble at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. Important prices before were u. a. 1st prize each at the Concours de Genève (2011), the FNAPEC 2010 competition (an award from conservatories and music colleges in France) and the 2009 International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon. The 1st prize at the YCA, the prelude to the Young Concert Artists in New York. The four musicians were Artistes en Résidence de la Chapelle Reine Élisabeth in Brussels from 2012 to 2016 . Since 2015 they have been supported by the Foundation of the Groupe Banque Populaire and the Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris.
