Mercury (I) fluoride is a yellowish solid, which soon turns black in the light, which hydrolyzes in water. It has a tetragonal crystal structure with the space group I 4 / mmm (space group no. 139) .

Mercury (I) fluoride can be used as a mild fluorinating agent.
