history
etymology
According to George Chalmers , the term is Queens- berry from the slurring of the Anglo-Saxon hall name Queens- mountain originated. The suffix '-berg' generally indicates a hill or elevation.
Deonyms
The British nobility titles of " Duke of Queensberry " or " Marquess of Queensberry " are named after this hill. In 1865, John Sholto Douglas , the 9th Marquess of Queensberry, worked with John Graham Chambers to draft the basic rules of modern boxing , now known as the Queensberry Rules . This set of rules in turn served as an eponym for the German girl group Queensberry .
