from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quio alias Ina Rotter is a rapper and musician, whose music moves stylistically between pop , hip-hop , clicks'n'cuts, two step , dubstep , grime and jungle . She is one of the few female MCs in Germany who rhyme with drum and bass , garage and dubstep.

Life

Quio has been a DJ since 1990. She moved to Berlin in the early 90s and sang in a guitar band there. In 1997, she came under the name MC Looney Tunes as a drum-and-bass - MC for Women Party collective G-Point , which for Drum & Bass Club WTF belonged. In this capacity she toured in Germany and Europe.

Together with Christine Lang and DJ G-Serve, she founded the party series on bass tracks in 1998 , which has been called Underground Essentials since 2006 . Quio has known Antye Greie-Ripatti since 1999, and the two have been working together musically since 2003. This collaboration culminated in the 2005 Quio album "Quio Like Ooohh!", Which was released on the "AGF Production" label. The album was mastered by Vladislav Delay .

In 2007 her album "Phiu" was released, which is known as the author's album. Her rap style is characterized by speaking at the same time as singing, which has so-called “flow disorders”, which producer and musician Antye Greie-Ripatti (under the name AGF) creatively recorded and pursued. Guests on her albums were Nicolette from Massive Attack , Kaisa Kemikowski, the producer Al Haca, the Afro-American writer Darius James and the Brazilian baile funk producer and rapper Edu K. Quio toured the world with “Phiu”. Her humorous rap lyrics have a very own joke, so she spreads her name as an abbreviation: "Qu for quatsch, I for Eisbein, O for Otto-Motor".

Quio is active in Femmes with Fatal Breaks , a feminist DJ collective consisting of the DJs Christine Lang, T-Ina Darling (Ina Wudtke) and Quio as MC . Femmes with Fatal Breaks have been active since 1999 and play dubstep, bassline, garage and electro swing.

In 2008 Femmes with Fatal Breaks including Quio organized the event "FEMMES 'R' US - Feminism in Pop Music Art Film Today", an event in Berlin's Radialsystem V , the female DJs, MCs and producers of the broken beats scene as well as visual artists, Filmmakers and theorists presented. It was an art exhibition with an extensive accompanying program of lectures, discussions, film screenings, art performances and music on feminism and feminist criticism in current art and cultural productions. The event strengthened positions that oppose the historicization of feminist art and emphasized the topicality and necessity of feminist art and feminist discourses. Participating artists were Pauline Boudry, Sonia Boyce, Patty Chang, Antye Greie-Ripatti , Klub Zwei (Jo Schmeiser and Simone Bader), Christine Lang, Jill Magid, Elke Mark, NEID, Pipilotti Rist and Ina Wudtke. Theoretical positions were presented by Chris Straayer, Marina Grzinic, Maria do Mar Castro Varela, Rosa Reitsamer, Tim Stüttgen and Tiina Rosenberg. The program was moderated by Antke Engel . The film “9 Lives the Cat has” by Constanze Ruhm was shown, the screening of which was followed by a panel discussion between Ula Stöckl , Helke Misselwitz and Birgit Großkopf.

Quio also regularly organized parties in the Deutsches Theater Berlin under the label "Underground Essentials", where DJs like G-Serve, Christine Lang, Danny Bwoy played and MCs like Quio, Amewu and Chefket rapped.

Quio has a daughter and a son. They are involved in various of her tracks, such as B. on the piece Lempapa on "Quio Like Ooohh!" And "Laterne, Lempapa Chilaine" feat. Nanie, Dr. Data, Lotta, O. as a compilation contribution to Tonangeberei of Bernadette La Hengst .
