Quzhou ( Chinese  衢州 市 , Pinyin Qúzhōu Shì ) is a district-free city with 2.16 million inhabitants (2016) and an area of ​​8836.52 km². It is located in the west of the Zhejiang Province in the People's Republic of China .

The urban population of Quzhou is 422,688 people.

During the Second World War , Japanese troops used bacteriological weapons in Quzhou, which spread plague , typhoid and other diseases in Quzhou, as well as in Ningbo and Changde . As a result, more than 300,000 Chinese civilians fell ill in the area from 1940 to 1948, and an estimated 50,000 people died in Quzhou alone.
