Jiaxing ( 嘉興 市  /  嘉兴 市 , Jiāxīng Shì ) is a district-free city in the north of the Chinese province of Zhejiang . In the 2000 census, Jiaxing had 3,582,996 residents. Of these, 99.57% were Han Chinese , 0.13% Tujia , 0.09% Miao , 0.06% Hui , 0.04% Zhuang , 0.03% Yi , 0.02% Bouyei , 0.01% Dong , 0.01% Manju, and 0.04% Other People of China.

Attractions

Nan Hu Lake is located in Jiaxing . The Chinese Communist Party was founded on a boat on the Nan Hu in 1921. Since then, the CCP has considered Nan Hu to be the birthplace of the Chinese Revolution. The Red Boat from Nan Hu is on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-11, 2001) as part of the site of the First Congress of the Communist Party of China .
