The Río Tutanagosa is a 55 km long right tributary of the Río Upano in the province of Morona Santiago in the central east of Ecuador .

River course

The Río Tutanagosa rises on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Real at an altitude of about 3200  m . It initially flows in an easterly direction from the mountains. The upper 15 km of the Río Tutanagosa are within the Sangay National Park . Coming from the north, the Río Miriumi meets the river 20 km above the mouth . This immediately passes the small town of Sucúa and changes direction to the south. It now flows almost parallel to the Río Upano, which runs further east. About 10 km above the mouth, the river passes the village of Huambi and finally flows into the Río Upano just under three kilometers north of Logroño . The Río Tutanagosa drains an area of ​​about 535 km².
