Roman quarterly for Christian antiquity and church history

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Roman quarterly for Christian antiquity and church history (abbreviated RQ ) was founded and published in 1887 by Anton de Waal . It initially appeared in four issues a year, since 1953 it has appeared in two double issues. The magazine was supposed to act as a publication organ for the scientists of the priestly college at Campo Santo Teutonico and his friends, who were mainly members of the Görres Society . The magazine was suspended due to de Waal's death in 1917, but was able to appear again regularly from 1922. In 1940 it was discontinued again due to the war, resumed in 1953, now published by Herder Verlag . The German Priest College at Campo Santo and the Roman Institute of the Görres Society have been the issuing institutions since 1953 . The headquarters of the editorial office is still the college of priests at Campo Santo Teutonico. The magazine comprises 300 printed pages annually. It offers contributions to the entire field of church history (with reference to Rome) and Christian archeology , as far as it is source-based basic research.

Editors of the magazine, which was resumed after the Second World War, were Johannes Kollwitz (1953–1958) and Johannes Vincke (1953–1958). From 1956 the following were active as editors: August Schuchert (1956–1962); Engelbert Kirschbaum (1956-1970); Johannes E. Gugumus (1963-1970); Ludwig Voelkl (1966–1971); Hermann Hoberg (1966-1992); Bernhard Hanssler (1971–1975); Ambrosius Eszer OP (1972-1975); Erwin Gatz (1976–2011) with Bernhard Kötting (1976–1995), Klaus Ganzer (1993–2009) and Theofried Baumeister OFM (1996–2013); Stefan Heid (since 2011) with Dominik Burkard (since 2012) and Hans-Peter Fischer (since 2012).

The scientific advisory board currently includes Bernd Engler , Thomas Brechenmacher , Jutta Dresken-Weiland , Michael Durst , Britta Kägler , Andreas Sohn and Günther Wassilowsky .

The content of the journal from 1887 to 2005 is made accessible by two index volumes:
