The Roman Imperial Medallion is an award given by the city of Mainz .

As part of the award, a replica of the Lyon lead medallion , which was probably made in AD 297, with the oldest known pictorial representation of the city, which was called Mogontiacum in Roman times , is presented. The award is given at irregular intervals to people who have made special contributions to research into the cultural history of the city of Mainz.
