The Rübelisbach , also called Rubelisbach , is an orographically left tributary of the Ablach and, via this, a tributary of the Danube .

The stream is fed by two sources in the Boll district, part of the Sauldorf municipality . One source is east of the Riedhöfe , the other east of the Hudelhof . Both source streams unite to the west of the Kohllöffelhof and the Rübelisbach flows east of this as a border stream between the municipality of Sauldorf ( district of Sigmaringen ) and the municipality of Mühlingen ( district of Konstanz ), and then flows into the Ablach in the district of Sauldorf.

The parts of the Rübelisbach valley from the Kohllöffelhof in the west to the Weißen Stein in the east with the “Unteräcker”, “Astwies”, “Hardwies” and “Chordawiese” pools are part of the “ Schwackenreuter Baggerseen-Rübelisbach ” nature reserve .

Flora and fauna

The "Ablach mit Rübelisbach" fishing water leased by the municipality of Sauldorf is still home to a small population of the small river mussel ( Unio crassus ) in the Rübelisbach . It is a strictly protected animal species, because it is almost extinct, under the Federal Species Protection Act and thus also the FFH ( Fauna-Flora-Habitat ) directive of the European Union. The mussel can only be found in around 20 locations in the whole of Baden-Württemberg .
