Rudiger Braun

Rüdiger Braun (born August 28, 1964 ) is a former German soccer player who played for Hansa Rostock in the GDR league in 1987 .

Athletic career

Braun was accepted into the junior team of FC Hansa Rostock in 1981, with whom he played in the GDR-wide junior league. In July 1982 he was appointed to the junior national team, with which he played eight international matches by November 1982. He was called up as a striker and scored three international goals.

After Braun was eligible to play for the men's division, he did not appear in national football for several years. In the 1986/87 season he was part of the squad of the 2nd team of Hansa Rostock, which played in the third-class district league Rostock . As the top scorer in the district league with 22 goals in 30 point games, Braun played a key role in the team's rise to the GDR league . As a substitute, he was also used in two league games of the 1st team, which was represented as a relegated league in the GDR league this season. For the 1987/88 season Braun was officially registered for the second team of the Hanseatic League, for which he played 25 of the 34 point games and was again the team's top scorer with eight goals. Braun played the only league game of his career on September 9, 1987 in the match between FC Hansa and Dynamo Dresden (1-1) as a substitute.

After Hansa II was relegated again after the 1987/88 season, Braun left FC Hansa and joined local rivals and GDR league promoted BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock . Schiffahrt / Hafen played until 1990/91, restructured into SV Hafen Rostock 61 in mid-1990, second class, from 1991/92 third class in the newly founded Oberliga Nordost . During this time, Braun was a regular for the Rostock striker. In 1992/93 he moved to TuS Lingen in the Oberliga Nord , where he played all 30 point games until relegation at the end of the season and scored eight goals. After that, he did not return to higher-class football leagues.
