Rüdiger Gebhardt

Rüdiger Gebhardt '(* 1968 ) is a German Protestant theologian . He works as a professor for religious and community education with a focus on systematic theology and ecclesiastical fields of action at the CVJM University in Kassel and teaches as a lecturer in the field of systematic theology at the University of Kassel . Since 2014 he has been heading the YMCA University in Kassel.

Life

Gebhardt studied Protestant theology at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen after graduating from the Friedrichgymnasium in Kassel . During his studies he worked as a research assistant with Wilfried Härle and Dietrich Rössler and received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. After the vicariate in Schwalmstadt and the 2nd theological exam, Gebhardt started at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg with a thesis on the subject of "Salvation as a communication event. Studies on the understanding of reality implied in Luther's doctrine of justification "for Dr. theol. PhD. At the same time, he completed a second degree in psychology. After completing his doctorate, he worked as a parish priest in Fuldabrück / Bergshausen near Kassel for 9 years. From 2010 to 2014 Gebhardt trained pastors and church leaders as a director of studies in the theological study seminar of the VELKD in Pullach near Munich. In February 2014 he was appointed professor and rector at the YMCA University in Kassel. Since 2017 he has been the second chairman of the "Conference of Rectors and Presidents of Protestant Universities of Applied Sciences (REF)".
