The locomotive of the series ТЭМ18 (German transcription TEM18) of the Russian Railways (RŽD) is a broad-gauge diesel locomotive that was developed as a further development of the SŽD series ТЭМ15 , which was produced in larger numbers, and the RŽD series ТЭМ17 , which can be regarded as a prototype development .

description

The ТЭМ18 ( TEM18 ) diesel locomotive will be delivered by the Bryansk locomotive factory from 1992. The diesel locomotive is intended for shunting and moving-out service as well as for light line service on railway lines and industrial railways .

The Brjansk locomotive factory produces the locomotives in gauges from 1,435 mm to 1,676 mm and for service in temperate and tropical climates.

The original version of the diesel locomotive is equipped with a four-stroke diesel engine with the designation 1ПД-1А ( 1PD-1A ). The locomotive can also be equipped for multiple control and one-man operation. Compared to the previous versions ( ТЭМ15 and ТЭМ17 ) the diesel engine has a spark arrester on the muffler, a silencer for the turbocharger , a device for heating the charge air of the diesel engine and a two-stage exhaust air purification of the exhaust gases.

In the different variants of the locomotive, different countries were supplied with the most varied operating conditions. In 2006 ten locomotives were delivered to Kazakhstan , and additional machines were intended for use in Poland and Guinea . The last locomotives were built in 2006 and were intended for use in tropical climates with special modifications to the diesel engine, special wiring of the electrical system and with a water-repellent paint. A locomotive with the designation ТЭМ18KZ-0001 ( TEM18KZ-0001 ) was manufactured in 2006 in the Russian-Kazakh company Kazakhstan Lokomotiv in Pavlodar .

The ТЭМ18 ( TEM18 ) series locomotives are considered a successful design in the post-Soviet countries . They are mainly used with the RŽD . The locomotives were built here from 1992 to 1994 and after a ten-year break in 2004 with the modification Т М18Д ( TEM18D ).

The original variant ТЭМ18 ( TEM18 ) was no longer produced from 2011.

Modifications

These further developments are equipped with the more reliable and economical diesel engine 1ПД-4Д ( 1PD-4D ), complex systems for safe operation ( KLUB-U ), electric brakes , safety driving circuits according to the system ТСКБМ ( TSKBM ) and other improvements and additions. The locomotive has improved noise and heat insulation in the driver's cab.

The ТМ18Д ( TEM18D ) locomotives were mainly procured from 2004 by the RŽD. The place of use of the ТЭМ18Д.001 ( TEM18D.001 ) is known to be the shunting service at the Kaliningrad -Sortirowotschnoj station on Kaliningradskaja seleznaja doroga .

The diesel locomotives of the series ТЭМ18ДM ( TEM18DM ), like the predecessor types, have six axles and are intended for operation on industrial and public railways as well as for shunting and light line service in regions with a moderate climate and outside temperatures of −50 ° C to +40 ° C . It has electrical power transmission with DC traction motors .

The series is equipped with an enlarged driver's cab for the train driver. It has the improved and more economical diesel engine 1-PD4D ( 1-PD4D ) from Pensadiselmasch. This allows to save special cooling sections for oil, this complex is taken over by a special heat exchanger . The electric drive of the cooling fan is dispensed with, a pump is installed near the diesel engine. The locomotive has microprocessor systems for control and diagnostics. The cabs have air conditioning . Special systems are available for economical fuel consumption, and the repair and operation of the locomotive has been further simplified. This improved the working conditions for the train driver.

The series ТЭМ18ДM ( TEM18DM ) received the certificate for the safe use of the locomotive. One of the diesel was the company of Metallurgy in Zaporizhia delivered Saporoschstahl. Vehicles with the 3001 classification were delivered for Mongolia and for various companies in the CIS and the Baltic States .

ТЭМ18Т

This is a version with an electric brake .

ТЭМ18A

This series is intended for both 1435 mm and 1520 mm gauges .

ТЭМ18Г

This series is prepared for drive with a diesel engine as well as with a natural gas engine. This series is equipped with additional containers on the roof.

ТЭМ18ЭГ

This is a tropicalized version of the ТЭМ18 ( TEM18 ), intended for delivery to Guinea .

ТЭМ18B

This version has the diesel engine W6L20LA of Wärtsilä with an output of 882 kW. It was created because of the unreliability of the engines of the brand PD ( PD ) of the Pensadiselmasch.

The Bryansk locomotive factory received the certificate for safe use of the locomotive for this further development. This allows private companies to operate the locomotive on the RŽD tracks . The certificate included the operation and maintenance of the locomotive and is valid until November 1, 2014. In July 2014, 30 locomotives of this type were delivered. They were mainly operated in the Saint Petersburg Finnish Railway Station depot .

ТЭМ18УТ

This version is equipped with a uniform microprocessor system for electrical power transmission and an electrical holding brake.

The application of the УСТА ( USTA ) systems increases the reliability of the diesel generator unit, increases the running performance between the technical examinations, improves the possibilities of multiple control and the drive performance. They reduce the consumption of sand and brake blocks and the consumption of fuel and lubricants.

Technical specifications

Common to all modifications are the technical data of the Co'Co 'wheel arrangement, the power of the diesel engine of 1200 hp, the rated speed of 100 km / h, the service weight of 126 t and the sand reserve of 2000 l. The fuel supply is 5400 l, with the ТЭМ18Г ( TEM18G ) series this is 3180 l diesel fuel and 725 l natural gas .
