The Allersberg-Express ( also known as the R9 Express in the VGN ) is the name of a regional train that runs between Nuremberg main station and Allersberg (Rothsee) station . Operations began with the timetable change on December 10, 2006.

Transport links

The 140 km / h fast trains run between Nuremberg and Allersberg without stopping in the shuttle service on the high-speed line Nuremberg – Ingolstadt . The journey time on the 25 km long route is 15 minutes in the direction of Allersberg and 14 minutes in the direction of Nuremberg (status: 2012 annual timetable). A park-and-ride car park with 286 parking spaces for cars and 112 for bicycles has been set up at the station in the Allersberg market with 8,000 residents . In addition, seven bus routes connect the station with the surrounding area.

The trains run every hour from Allersberg on weekdays between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. and from Nuremberg main station between 4:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Together with the trains of the Munich-Nuremberg Express , which also stop in Allersberg , there is a half-hourly service between Allersberg and Nuremberg between 5:00 and 8:00 on weekdays. Until midnight there is an hourly cycle with individual weakenings. At the weekend, the traffic is severely limited with five pairs of trains.

The trains run from Nuremberg main station mostly from platform 5 or 14. In Allersberg, the trains always run from platform 1 to the east. From the direction of Nuremberg, the trains change to the eastern track on a track change in the north head of the station.

Vehicle material

The coatings were from 2006 to December 2013 from an electric locomotive of the 111 series modernized and three n-carriage ( genus Bnrdz formed Series 451.9), including a control car (genus Bnrbdzf , Series 480.3). Two class 112 locomotives were used to start operations (" sandwich "). There were 240 seats (exclusively second class) and 34 parking spaces for taking bicycles with you.

The last lap of the day was driven with a six-car set of the Munich-Nuremberg Express and a scheduled top speed of 160 km / h.

Since December 15, 2013 the trains have been running with type Bpmz IC cars and type Bpmbdzf control cars from the Munich-Nuremberg Express , which are painted traffic red . From July 2014 the control car was exchanged for a long-distance locomotive of the DB class 101 , so that the train now runs in the order 101 + Bpmz + Bpmz + Bpmz + 101.

From spring 2020, Alstom Coradia Continental vehicles will be used as part of the integration into the Nuremberg S-Bahn network .

particularities

  • As far as possible, the trains are operated by LZB . For technical reasons, after the change of direction in Allersberg, in the direction of Nuremberg, admission to the LZB is only possible north of the Allersberg train station (at the area marking change, route kilometers 23.6). Before this, the station must be left with signals. Before the signal on the platform in Allersberg can jump to speed ( green ), the entire 15-kilometer section to the next traffic light (at the Nürnberg Reichswald junction ) had to be free of trains by March 2016 . In the event of an overhaul by an ICE , at least four minutes would pass before departure is possible. In March 2016, new block signals went into operation at route kilometer 17, so that it is now possible to follow the signal at the earliest about two minutes after a passing ICE had passed through Allersberg.
  • The Allersberg Express, which can reach speeds of up to 140 km / h, was the only non -pressure-tight regional train that was scheduled to meet ICE trains traveling at speeds of up to 300 km / h on the open route until the rolling stock was changed in December 2013 . He is one of a few regional trains, the schedule on a new line of high-speed traffic runs.

history

According to the planning status of 1992, 16 regional express trains ( RSB ) were planned between Nuremberg main station and Ingolstadt main station. With a top speed of 140 km / h, a travel time of 49 minutes between Nuremberg and Ingolstadt main station and 13 minutes between Nuremberg main station and Allersberg should be achieved.

The underlying transport contract was awarded to DB Regio on October 18, 2005 by the Bavarian Railway Company . Initially, hourly traffic was planned between Monday and Friday. Over a period of seven years, in connection with the Munich-Nuremberg Express , a service of 1.7 million train kilometers per year is to be provided. According to the plans at the time, an award was then planned for ten years.

As the R 9 line, the Allersberg Express was put into operation in December 2006 as the 21st regional transport line in the greater Nuremberg area .

In a preliminary information on March 1, 2012, the Bavarian Railway Company announced its intention to privately outsource the operation of the Munich-Nuremberg and Allersberg Express to DB Regio for the period between December 15, 2013 and December 12, 2015. An extension for a further year is optional. Contrary to previous practice, the vehicle revolutions of the two offers are to be linked with one another and the sets of the Munich-Nuremberg Express are to be used on the Allersberg Express. There is an hourly service during rush hour, and a two-hour service with alternating cycle times during off-peak hours.

Following a Europe-wide invitation to tender, regional traffic on the new line for the period from December 15, 2013 to December 10, 2016 was awarded to DB Regio Franken on November 22, 2013. A total of around 1.6 million train kilometers are to be provided each year.

With the timetable change in December 2013, the previous set was abandoned and replaced by a set with former intercity cars ( intermediate car of the type Bpmz and control car of the type Bpmbdzf ). This set will be extended at the weekend and will run to Ingolstadt or Munich to accommodate the growing number of passengers. At the same time, fewer trains run between Nuremberg and Allersberg outside of rush hour. During the morning rush hour, a connection is offered approximately every 40 minutes.

outlook

The line was to be integrated into the Nuremberg S-Bahn system from December 2018 as the S5 line . The timetable is expected to remain largely unchanged. The Bavarian Railway Company said it did not put out the new offer together with the Munich-Nuremberg Express for cost reasons. An extension, for example to Ansbach, is being examined. In January 2015, the Bavarian Railway Company announced that the National Express Group had won both lots for the Nuremberg S-Bahn and thus also the Allersberg-Express and would operate them from December 2018. On December 19, 2016, it was decided that DB Regio Franken should continue to operate in the future.

Commissioning was postponed to spring 2020.
