REDIAL

REDIAL is the almost acronym for Red Europea de Información y Documentación sobre América Latina (German European information and documentation network on Latin America ). The association, based in Madrid , is supported by European libraries and documentation centers with a focus on Latin America in Germany , France , Great Britain , the Netherlands , Russia , Sweden and Spain and sees itself as a platform for the development of communication between scholars, librarians and documentalists who work in the area human and social sciences deal with Latin America. The non-profit association is based in Spain. It consists of the General Assembly ( Asamblea General de Socios ) and a board ( Comité Ejecutivo ), which in each case composed of the elected coordinators a state.

Founding history

In 1988, during the 46th International Americanist Congress (ICA) in Amsterdam, at the invitation of the French Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the symposium Information systems in the social and human sciences on Latin America: A balance sheet for European cooperation took place. The aim of the conference was to establish a European network to enable the exchange of scientific information about Latin America produced in Europe with cooperative documentation tools. On March 6 and 7, 1989, 35 study, research and documentation institutions formulated an action plan in the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Madrid , and a provisional coordination committee was commissioned to draft statutes for the planned organization. The founding assembly took place from November 30th to December 2nd, 1989 in Bordeaux - Talence and Saint-Émilion ( France ). Founding members were 35 research institutions, libraries, documentation centers, NGOs and special institutions from Belgium , Germany , France, Great Britain , the Netherlands , Austria and Spain .
