AV Germania Freiburg-St. Georgen

The AV Germania Freiburg-St. Georgen was founded in 1887. The wrestlers were among the founding members of the Ringer Bundesliga in 1964. The 1968/69 season they finished in third place. In 1979, as a result of a reduction in the number of Bundesliga members, they were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga.

The St. Georgener produced numerous successful wrestlers. One of the outstanding personalities is Adolf Seger, the two-time world champion (1976, 1977) in the middleweight division (freestyle). Seger also won bronze at the Olympic Games in 1972 in the welterweight (freestyle) and in 1976 in the middleweight (freestyle). Seger's track record also includes three European championships and ten German championships.

SV Freiburg-Haslach

The establishment of the SV Freiburg-Haslach took place in the year 1895. The Haslach wrestlers rose for the first time in 1975 in the wrestling Bundesliga and in 1982 advanced to the semi-finals of the team championship. After that, however, he crashed into the regional league within two years. In 1993 they rose again to the Bundesliga.

In the early 1980s, bantamweight Jürgen Lutterer took third place four times in a row at the German championships in the Greco-Roman style (1980 to 1983) in the shadow of the later Olympic champion Pasquale Passarelli . In 1984 he won the runner-up, in 1986 again a third place.
