The Ringer Bundesliga 2008/09 is the 45th in the history of the Ringer Bundesliga . 24 teams competed in three regional preliminary round groups and in a play-off round for the German championship .
The season begins in all three seasons on September 13th . The first half of the season ends on October 18 , the second half of the season begins a week later on October 25 and ends on December 6, 2008 . The final round finally started on December 13th .
The finals took place on January 24th and January 31st, 2009 . As in the previous two years, 1. Luckenwalder SC and KSV Köllerbach faced each other in the final. Köllerbach won the home fight 23:16 and was after the 19:21 defeat in the rematch for the third time in a row German team champions in wrestling.
Preliminary round
Season south
With a lead of two points, SV Wacker Burghausen made the championship in the south relay. In the end, the wrestlers of KSV Aalen 05 had to admit defeat. Promoted ASV Nendingen managed to stay in the league. The relegation had to start the SV St. Johannis 07. The sports club from Nuremberg could not get a point. Even against Nendingen, who otherwise couldn't get any points, St. Johannis lost twice.

Season middle
SV Germania Weingarten was the name of the master of the season south. In the end, the Baden team prevailed in the table by four points against the reigning German champions KSV Köllerbach. TV Aachen-Walheim remained without a win or a point. The climber's wrestlers remained unsuccessful in 14 fights and ended up being 6 points behind KSV Ketsch.

North season
As expected, the runner-up 1. Luckenwalder SC managed to march through in the northern relay. With 14 wins from 14 fights, the top wrestlers from Brandenburg distanced ASV Hof by eight points in second place. KG Frankfurt / Eisenhüttenstadt was tied on points with Hof. The TRV Berlin took fourth place. PSV Rostock had to start relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, after taking four points from the season and only two points behind KFC Leipzig in the end.

The preliminary matches for the semi-finals took place on January 10th . The rematches took place on January 17th .

final
In the final there was a new edition of the final fights of the last two years. Köllerbach won both finals.
The finals will take place on January 24th and January 31st . Köllerbach had home rights in the first fight.
KSV Köllerbach won the first fight in the Hermann-Neuberger-Halle with 23:16. Andrij Shyyka , who defeated his opponent with technical superiority, but also Wladimir Togusow and Jan Fischer, who each scored 3-0 points for the KSV, were essential pillars of this quite clear victory . Eusebiu Diaconu and the Swede Jalmar Sjöberg succeeded in doing this for Luckenwalde .
The host won the rematch in the Luckenwalder Fläminghalle. However, the 21:19 was not enough to make up for the 16:23 defeat from the battle. Thus, Köllerbach became German wrestling team champion for the third time in a row.
