Turkish wrestling club Berlin

The Turkish Wrestling Association Berlin 1981 e. V. (TRV Berlin) is a ring sports club from Berlin , which was represented in the first Bundesliga from 2007 to 2009. In the summer of 2009, the team withdrew from the regional league, to which they had been transferred after the 2009/10 Bundesliga season.

history

The club was founded in 1981 by wrestling enthusiastic Turkish citizens. The later 1st club president and long-time coach Abdurrahman Cay was also there. Team captain in Bundesliga times was Ramazan Aydin , who was also employed by Aalen and Goldbach . Furthermore, the multiple German champion Mesut Okcu also competed for the Berlin team.

After the second division season 2006/07, the team rose to the 1st Bundesliga . The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan , among others, congratulated them . After the promotion, the team reached the 2nd place in the season north behind the 1st Luckenwalder SC in the 2007/08 season and thus qualified for the play-offs, in which, however, they were eliminated in the second round. Also in 2008/09 the club reached the round of 16. After this season, the club withdrew from the Bundesliga and planned for the third-class regional league, from which they also withdrew before the start of the season. In 2009 the former top athletes of the Turkish Wrestling Club founded the Weddinger Wrestling Club Berlin 09 e. Under the leadership of Sedat Dagdemir, Hikmet Karadag and Ramazan Aydin. V.
