The Rickmers type RW 39 is a smaller type of container ship , which was developed by the Rickmers shipyard in Bremerhaven .

history

The Leerort in the Bittersee

The series was built in fourteen units and several versions from 1980 to 1986 by Rickmers Werft, which also designed the ships. The RW 39 represented a successful type, which over the last six years until later closure, formed the backbone of production at the Rickmers shipyard and served as the basis of the larger type RW 49 .

The RW-39 ships had two hatches that were closed with a combination of hydraulic folding hatch covers and rollable pontoon covers. Two 35-tonne cranes were available as their own loading gear . In accordance with the client's wishes, various main engines were used within the series, such as the four-stroke types, MaK 8 M 551, or Deutz SBV12M540, but also two-stroke engines, such as the Akasaka Diesel 6 UEC 45/115 or Kawasaki-MAN K6Z52 / 90N.
