The Racer Rocks are a small group of around ten to 17 m high cliff rocks off the Danco coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Palmer Archipelago , they are on the Gerlache Strait between Auguste Island and Lobodon Island .
In November 1989, a team from the University of Texas Marine Research Institute set up an automatic weather station on the largest of these rocks . The name of the rock is an acronym for the research program R esearch on A ntarctic C oastal E cosystems and R ates the National Science Foundation , included the multidisciplinary studies in the Gerlache Strait. The name was given in 1992 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names .
