Rachel Steer

Rachel Steer (born January 25, 1978 in Anchorage ) is a former American biathlete .

Rachel Steer is the most successful American biathlete of the 2000s. She has been in the sport since 1992. The student lives in Anchorage. She made her World Cup debut in 1997 at the pre-Olympic race in Nagano . There she was 63rd in a single. In 1998 she started at the Junior World Championships in Jericho . The best place was a tenth place in the individual. In Pokljuka she started in a world championship for the first time in the same year and reached a 25th place in the pursuit. At the same time she won her first World Cup points. In her US homeland, she took part in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City for the first time . The best place was a 31st place in the individual.

In 2004 Steer was able to achieve her best result, a 12th place in a pursuit race in Lake Placid . In the following season she was able to repeat this placement in a mass start race. Both the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons she finished in 36th place overall. In 2005 she also won a sprint race in the European Cup in Obertilliach . In 2006 Steer started again at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin and achieved a 35th place in the sprint as the best place.
