Rachid Ouramdane (* 1971 in Nîmes , France ) is a French choreographer and dancer .

Life

Ouramdane is the son of parents from Algeria . He worked with various French dancers and choreographers before founding the Fin novembre dance company with choreographer Julie Nioche in 1996 and then his own in 2007 under the name L'A . From 2000 to 2004 he was employed at the Manège de Reims and then from 2005 to 2007 he went to Paris to the La Ménagerie de verre (glass menagerie). From 2007 to 2010 he worked at the Théâtre 2 Gennevilliers in Gennevilliers , Hauts-de-Seine department north- west of Paris.

Ouramdane has been an artist with the Scène nationale d'Annecy in the Center culturel de Bonlieu in Annecy , Haute-Savoie , since 2005 . In 2010 he was at the Parisian Théâtre de la ville -Sarah Bernhardt.

style

Ouramdane's work very often reflects questions about his own identity or that of his parents. Since the beginning of his career, he has combined his dancing skills and his training in the stylistic devices of contemporary dance with video and light artists, with musicians and sculptors. His excursions to Brazil , Vietnam and China are accompanied by documentaries about the history of the origins and the establishment of identity in these countries.
