Rachio
Rachio ( Rachion , Reccho , Retho , Ratho , Recho , Rachto ; died 815 ) was bishop of Strasbourg from about 783 to 815 .
Life
He was first abbot of Munster in the Gregoriental . He retained the office of abbot as bishop .
In 788 he donated a codex Canonum to the library of the Strasbourg Cathedral . This contained a collection of resolutions from various councils. He supplemented this with papal ordinances and letters. The codex burned with the Strasbourg City Library in 1870.
In a pamphlet from the St. Gallen monastery , he was described as a vain, pompous gentleman who would pride himself on his holiness. He is said to have transferred the relics of St. Florentius to the Niederhaslach collegiate church . It is not entirely clear whether the recorded year of his death, 815, is correct. He is said to have been buried in the church in Haslach.
