The Raconteurs [ ðəˌɹækɑːnˈtɝːz ] is a blues rock band from the USA . On the Australian market they are called "The Saboteurs" because a band called "Raconteurs" already existed there.
Band history
The Raconteurs were founded in 2005 and published early February 2006, their first single Steady, As She Goes limited edition of 7 " - Vinyl . This was sold out in a very short time and was auctioned at high prices on the Internet.
The band was conceived as a side project, as all members already play in another, better-known band or are active as solo artists: Jack White with the White Stripes (until 2011), Brendan Benson as a solo artist and Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler with the Greenhornes . The first Raconteurs album Broken Boy Soldiers was released on May 12, 2006.
The band's music reflects White's love for blues and rock 'n' roll, as well as Benson's indie rock songwriting ability . The lyrics are mostly about love and biographical details. The band name is French (with an English article ) and means "the narrators". In April 2006, the band name for the Australian market had to be changed to The Saboteurs, as there was already a jazz band from Queensland in this country using the name The Raconteurs. The Australian band declined the record company's financial offer to purchase the naming rights and instead demanded a higher sum. This in turn refused the record company, whereupon the name was changed.
On March 25, 2008 her second album Consolers of the Lonely was released . In 2009 it received a Grammy nomination in the ' Best Rock Album ' category and won a Grammy in the 'Best Engineered Non-Classical Album' category for sound engineering performance.
