Radhamés Reyes Alfau
Radhamés Reyes Alfau (born September 14, 1923 in Mao , Valverde , † March 2, 2006 in Miami ) was a Dominican musician, composer and arranger.
Reyes began his training with Emilio and Tontón Arté and continued with the violinist and pianist Gabriel del Orbe . For a short time he was saxophonist and arranger in the Orquesta Melódica by Pepin Ferrer with Voz Dominicana before he went to Puerto Rico for 25 years. There he worked as a composer and arranger for musicians such as Bobby Capó , Gilberto Monroig , Yolandita Monje , Nydia Caro and the salsa orchestra El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico .
His compositions included pieces such as La Maricutana , El 19 (made famous by Alberto Beltrán ), Gratey , Quiéreme , A tu lado and Fiesta Cibaeña ; he also composed five merengues for symphony orchestra, which were performed by Vox Dominicana under the direction of José Dolores Cerón . He also worked as a composer of commercial jingles . In 1990 he retired in Santo Domingo.
