Radio Okapi is a radio broadcaster in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . It is one of the most important information media in the country and has its headquarters in Kinshasa .

Radio Okapi was founded in February 2002 on the initiative and with the support of the United Nations , MONUC and the Fondation Hirondelle, an NGO from Switzerland. On the occasion of the Second Congo War from 1998 to 2003, a "peace radio" was to be set up as a lesson from notorious "hate radio" such as the Rwandan broadcaster RTL Mille Collines .
