Rafael Antonio Gutiérrez

Rafael Antonio Gutiérrez (born August 15, 1826 in Ilobasco , Cabañas Department , El Salvador ; † January 9, 1921 in San Jacinto , San Salvador Department , El Salvador) was from June 21, 1894-13. November 1898 President of El Salvador.

Life

His mother was Marcela Gutiérrez. He was married to Carlota Mejía, their children were: Rafael Antonio, Carlos, Carlota, Tulio, Marcela, Rosa, Bernardo and Maria. His daughter Marcela was married to a son of Fernando Figueroa .

He led the 44 latifundists who fell with the support of José María Reina Barrios , Carlos Ezeta . From March 1, 1894, he had to show an election as legitimation. He had a brand on the right side of his head from using a firearm .

República Mayor de Centroamerica

1896–1897: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras

Gutiérrez authorized Jacinto Castellano to meet on June 20, 1895 with the also authorized Manuel Coronel Matus for Nicaragua and Constantino Fiallos for Honduras in Amapala, where they concluded the Pacto de Amapala , which was the basis for the República Mayor de Centroamérica . Jacinto Castellano acted in the summer of 1895 as ambassador for the Gutiérrez government in New York. Until November 30, 1897, Jacinto Castellano was chairman of a joint parliament of the República Mayor de Centroamérica .

In 1898, before an election date, Gutiérrez was replaced as president in a bloodless coup by his best friend General Tomas Regalado. General Gutierrez died on January 9, 1921, at 10:00 p.m. in the Barrio San Jacinto, he had not forgiven Regalado for the coup.
