Rafael Hofmann

Rafael Hofmann (born January 25, 1950 in Moers ) is a German local politician . From 1999 to 2004 he was the first elected CDU mayor in Moers.

Life

After attending primary school, Hofmann completed his Abitur at the Moers Adolfinum Gymnasium . After completing his military service, he studied law in Munich and Bonn . As a trainee lawyer he worked at the city administration in Moers. From 1982 to 1999 he worked as a lawyer and specialized lawyer for Social Law and lawyer specializing in family law in Moers.

In 1999 he was elected mayor of Moers. He held this office until 2004. His term of office was mainly determined by the dire budget situation. In addition to a school renovation program because of PCBs , he initiated an administrative reform. After his election defeat against the SPD candidate Norbert Ballhaus , he resettled in 2004 as a lawyer in Moers.
