Rahim Ademi (born January 30, 1954 in Karač , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian major general a. D .

Life

Ademi was born in Karač near Vučitrn and grew up there. He graduated from the Yugoslav Military School in Belgrade in 1976 . He then worked in a military base near Rogoznica near Šibenik . He has two children with his wife.

In 1986 Ademi was accused of being involved in "Revolutionary Plans" and was imprisoned. He was released from prison after a year and a half. He worked as an officer in Sinj until 1990, when the Croatian War was brewing. After the outbreak of war in this region, he helped found Croatian military troops.

In 1990 he became an employee of the Croatian Ministry of the Interior and later joined the Croatian army . In 1993 Ademi became the head of the Gospić military district . However, after Operation Medak , he was released from duty.

Ademi later became Deputy Commander of the Split Military District and was promoted to brigadier general for his services in the Oluja military operation . He stayed there until he got a job as assistant advisor to the Croatian troops in Zagreb .

He was representative of the commander in various operations ( Oluja, Ljeto '95., Maestral and Južni potez) . Rahim Ademi was also a major general ( general bojnik).

In 2001 the ICTY charged Ademi with war crimes ( ethnic cleansing ), which he allegedly committed in the Medak military operation . In November 2005, the Ademi case was referred to a Croatian court.

In his defense, Ademi claimed that the Croatian government wanted to use him as a scapegoat under pressure from the ICTY and dismissed him in order not to suspect the leading officers Janko Bobetko , Mirko Norac and Mladen Markač .

On May 30, 2008, Ademi was acquitted on all charges.
