Rainbow Kitten Surprise is an American alternative / indie - band from Boone and Robbinsville in North Carolina . Their sound was by artists such as Modest Mouse , Kings of Leon , Frank Ocean and Schoolboy Q affected.

history

Rainbow Kitten Surprise was founded in 2013 by Sam Melo and Darrick Keller while both were studying at Appalachian State University . Melo and Keller recorded their first EP, Mary , in their dormitory. Ethan Goodpaster, Jess Haney and Charlie Holt later became members of the band. Rainbow Kitten Surprise released their first album Seven independently and without the help of a label. Seven was later republished along with Mary . Between 2014 and 2017 Rainbow Kitten Surprise performed at various festivals such as the Bonnaroo Music Festival .

In early 2018 the album How To: Friend, Love, Freefall was released. The single Fever Pitch , released in spring 2018, reached number 34 on the Billboard Alternative Song Charts.

In May 2019, Rainbow Kitten released Surprise Mary (B-Sides).
