Rainer Bernickel

Rainer Bernickel (* 1946 ) is a retired German police officer and road safety advisor .

Career

Bernickel was employed by the motorway police in Münster from 1972 to 2006 , most recently in the rank of police chief inspector . From 1999 to 2006 he worked as a road safety consultant. He retired in January 2007.

He is the founder of numerous facilities for long-distance drivers, such as the long-distance driver meeting, which initially took place in North Rhine-Westphalia, later throughout Germany and today in Europe. As an initiator, he is in charge of the Europe-wide DocStop initiative for health care for professional drivers.

In 2014, Rainer Bernickel and Joachim Fehrenkötter received the "Leo" award from DVV-Verlag as Person of the Year for their voluntary commitment to DocStop.

Honors

  • 2010: Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany
  • 2013 German occupational health and safety award for the establishment of ++ DocStop for Europeans eV ++
  • 2014: "Leo" as Person of the Year, awarded by DVV-Verlag
