Rainer Bomba (born February 9, 1964 in Schlüchtern ) is a German politician ( CDU ). The engineering graduate and business graduate was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport from November 2009 to March 2018 . Bomba is married and has two children.

education and profession

After completing his military service in 1982/83 Bomba began at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt an engineering -Studies, which he in 1987 as a graduate engineer (FH) ended. After a brief activity as a development engineer in the automotive supplier industry (1988–1990), Bomba studied business administration and economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1990 to 1995 . After several intermediate positions as a business economist in the private sector , he was head of the job placement and counseling department at the Offenbach employment office from 1998–2000 before he became a job placement / advisory officer at the Hessen State Employment Office in 2000 . After a year in this authority, he was deputy director of the job placement / job advice department at the Frankfurt employment office.

In 2002/03 he worked on setting up the capital city representation of the Federal Employment Agency in Berlin . Between 2003 and 2007 he worked in different federal states as managing director operational and at the same time as representative of the chairman of the management of the regional directorate . From 2007 to 2009, Bomba was Chairman of the Management Board of the Bavarian Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg.

Bomba has been working for the think tank Cheil Germany since June 2018 .

politics

Rainer Bomba is a member of the CDU . In 1997, he was defeated by the later Bundestag member Martin Hohmann in an internal party vote to succeed Alfred Dregger as a member of the Bundestag CDU in Fulda .

On November 24, 2009, Bomba was appointed State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (from December 2013: Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure ). Rainer Bomba held his office until March 2018. He was responsible for electromobility, digital infrastructure, the environment and traffic, the federal government's fuel strategy, infrastructure and logistics, infrastructure financing and road construction.

From March 2010 to March 2018 he represented the Federal Government on the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH .
