Rainer Desens (born May 22, 1959 ) was a football goalkeeper in the game operations of the GDR Football Association . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , he played briefly for the BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau .

Athletic career

Desens grew up in Prenzlau in Brandenburg . From 1973 to 1975 he attended the children's and youth sports school in Rostock and became goalkeeper of the youth team of FC Hansa Rostock . At Hansa, he went through the other youth teams and was accepted into the junior league team for the 1976/77 season . There he had to assert himself against his competitors Karl-Heinz Aul and Hartmut Krüger and was only used six times in the 26 point games played in the junior league . Then he was goalkeeper of the 2nd team of BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt in the third-class district league Frankfurt (Oder) .

For the 1981/82 season Desens moved to the league promoted BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau, but was nominated there as the second goalkeeper of the junior league team. Nevertheless, coach Olaf Keller used him in three league games in the GDR league when the first team goalkeeper Jochen Habekuß couldn't play:

  • September 19, 1981, 5th matchday, BFC Dynamo - Buna Schkopau 7: 0
  • September 26, 1981, 6th matchday, Buna Schkopau - Hallescher FC 0: 3
  • October 14, 1981, 7th matchday, 1.FC Lok Leipzig - Buna Schkopau 3: 0

The poor record of 13 goals in three games did not stand out from the one that Habekuss had to show in the previous four games. He had already suffered 18 goals. In the GDR league season 1982/83 Desens was second goalkeeper behind Habekuss and for the 1983/84 season he joined the GDR league team progress Weissenfels . After his descent in 1984 in the district league Halle, he no longer appeared in higher-class football.
