Rainer Holzschuh (born June 17, 1944 in Bad Kissingen ) is a German journalist .

Life

Holzschuh did his Abitur in Regensburg and then studied law at the Universities of Regensburg and Munich . From 1970 he was a full-time sports editor, initially at the Augsburger Allgemeine . From 1971 he worked in the West editorial team at Kicker-Sportmagazin, in 1978 he was appointed head of the North editorial team.

In 1988 Holzschuh became editor-in-chief of the kicker sports magazine together with Wolfgang Uhrig . When he reached the age of 65, he gave up this post at the end of 2009 after 21 years as editor-in-chief, of which the last five years alone, changed to the position of editor and thus succeeded his predecessor Karl-Heinz Heimann , who finally settled in Retired.

From 1983 to 1988 Holzschuh was press officer of the German Football Association (DFB). From 1990 to 2000 he was and since 2005 he has been President of European Sports Media (EMS; Association of European Sports Magazines).
