Rainer Huber

Rainer Huber (born January 22, 1948 in Baden , canton Aargau ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ). From 2001 to 2009 he was a councilor for the canton of Aargau.

biography

After completing the Wettingen teacher training college , he trained as a sports teacher at the University of Basel . For 17 years he worked in the school service of the canton of Aargau. From 1987 to 1997 he was a member of the management of the major bank Credit Suisse and headed the sponsoring department. From 1998 to 2001 he was the owner of an office for management consulting in Dietikon . In the Swiss Army he was a Colonel in the General Staff and most recently commanded the Aargau Infantry Regiment 24.

Huber is the father of four grown children and lives in Gontenschwil.

His political career began in 1985 when he was elected to the local council of his former municipality in Berikon , and from 1986 he was mayor . In 2001 he was elected to the Aargau government and confirmed in office in 2004. He heads the Department of Education, Culture and Sport.

In the cantonal government council election on November 30, 2008, Huber clearly missed the absolute majority and only achieved the eighth-best vote, whereby he was overtaken by five new candidates. His educational policy, in particular the controversial reform of the elementary school (so-called "educational clover leaf"), was criticized. On February 8, 2009 he was defeated in the second ballot for the as yet unassigned fifth seat in a tough election campaign against Alex Hürzeler . Since April 1, 2009, Rainer Huber has not been a member of the Aargau government.
