Rainer Pariasek (born August 19, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian sports commentator and presenter.

Life

The son of a bank clerk and an interpreter originally wanted to be a criminal defense lawyer and therefore began studying law , which he eventually dropped out due to his work at ORF . As a child, he did not dream of becoming a sports reporter and was a handball player with not that great talent, according to Rainer Pariasek. In 1987 Pariasek started in the sports department of Ö3 . In 1996 he moved to the television editorial team of ORF Sports .

Pariasek is the presenter of the ORF at various sports broadcasts such as alpine ski races and football games and moderates various sports programs. Among other things, on December 2, 2007, he and the former Miss Switzerland Melanie Winiger moderated the draw for the preliminary round groups for the 2008 European Football Championship . He also moderates the “Gala Night of Sports” every year. In 2015 Pariasek was a quiz candidate on the show "Great Moments", where he formed a team with Herbert Prohaska . He moderated the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .

Pariasek is married and has three daughters. He lives with his family in Hollenburg near Krems in Lower Austria .
