Rainer Schottstädt

Rainer Schottstädt (born January 21, 1951 in Stuttgart ; † September 19, 2016 ) was a German bassoonist , professor and publisher .

From 1971 to 1975 Schottstädt studied at the Stuttgart Music Academy with Frits Wolken. From September 1975 to June 2016 he was principal bassoonist in the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne. He also gave regular solo concerts with renowned orchestras and chamber concerts. For over 25 years he has been a permanent guest with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra in Heilbronn , with whom he has also performed as a soloist several times. Since 1982 Schottstädt had a teaching post for bassoon at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne , which was expanded in 1986 to include chamber music and wind instruments. In 2008 he was awarded the title of professor for this activity.

The music publisher Rainer Schottstädt in Cologne is the successor to the Gebr. Schottstädt publisher founded in 1993. So far, almost 200 works (mainly with oboe or bassoon) have been published.
