Alfred Breusing

Alfred Breusing (born July 15, 1853 in Aurich , † October 5, 1914 in Berlin ) was a German naval officer , most recently Vice Admiral of the Imperial Navy .

Life

As the older son of Georg Breusing , Adolf Breusing joined the Navy of the North German Confederation in 1869 . After various activities he served on the Hohenzollern , as its commander he served in the rank of lieutenant captain in the winter of 1889–1890 with a reduced crew. In the autumn of the following year he briefly led the ship of the line Wörth , which was activated for the autumn maneuvers from the reserve and which served as a fleet flagship for the chief of the training fleet, Vice Admiral Hans Koester . In October 1895 he was finally able to take command of the ironclad Sachsen , which he led until September 1897. The Sachsen acted as the flagship of the 1st Squadron during this time .

In October 1897 Breusing was transferred to the Navy High Command. In April 1899 he became head of department in the Admiral's staff . During the autumn maneuvers of the following years he was regularly employed as chief of staff in the training fleet. In 1901 he was budgeted as chief of staff in the training fleet. On January 27, 1903, he was appointed Rear Admiral in this position. After the end of the autumn maneuvers in 1903 the fleet was reorganized and Breusing became 2nd Admiral of the 1st Squadron, in 1904 2nd Admiral of the 2nd Squadron. In 1905 Breusing became chief of the East Asia Squadron .

On January 27, 1907, he was promoted to Vice Admiral and in October of the same year he was transferred to the position of senior director of the Kaiserliche Werft Wilhelmshaven . In April 1908 he moved to the Reichsmarineamt in Berlin , where he became director of the shipyard department. On January 4, 1910, he was put up for disposition as a characterized admiral . Admiral Breusing and his wife Martha Fenna Catharine, b. Bron's four daughters (including the well-known painter Fenna Minna Irma "Ima" Breusing) and son Hero Breusing , who later became major general of the Wehrmacht.
