Rais Rawkatowitsch Suleimanow ( Russian Раис Равкатович Сулейманов ;. Scientific transliteration Rais Ravkatovič Sulejmanov ; born 25. June 1984 , Kazan , USSR ) is a Russian religious scholars and Islamic scholar , who as an expert on Islamic radicalism and Tatars applies.

Life

Suleymanov graduated from Kazan University , where he studied history.

He conducts research on ethnic and religious conflicts in the Volga region . He is the author of publications on radical Islamic movements in Russia, especially in the Volga Federal District . He was the head of the Volga Center for Regional and Ethnic-Religious Studies of the Russian Institute for Strategic Research (Российский институт стратегических исследований) and now works as an expert at the Institute for National Strategy (инасетьр Инаитер)

Rais Suleimanow worked closely with the Muslim community leader and scholar, Imam Valiulla Jakupow , the deputy of the then Grand Mufti of Tatarstan , Ildus Faisow. After he was murdered in front of his house in Kazan in 2012 , he has since worked to preserve and develop its scientific and theological heritage.

Suleimanov has been criticized for producing predictions specifically designed to shock the public. After Suleimanov publicly asserted that radical Islam was being promoted in the Federation Republic of Tatarstan and that this was backed by the leadership of the republic, he was officially warned of extremist activities by the office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic, Kafil Amirov. As a result, Amirov was forced to resign in 2013 at the instigation of the Russian central government. Suleimanov, who in 2014 accused the West of trying to destabilize Tatarstan with the help of Islamic extremists, later revealed his close ties to the Russian secret service apparatus.
