Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (lit. translation: My King Will Come) is a Bollywood film from 1997 and the debut of Rani Mukerji and Shadaab Khan . It hit theaters in India on October 18, 1997, but it flopped at the box office.

Mala works as a primary school teacher. One day her friend confesses to her love affair with the son of a wealthy man. They had an affair, but now he's marrying someone else. Mala accompanies her friend to this wedding, disrupts and ultimately ruins the event. Raja, the bridegroom's brother, is angry and offends Mala. In response, she slaps him in the face, which is very troublesome to Raja, who has been exposed in public. On a rainy day, he goes to the elementary school where Mala teaches. Raja, still furious, beats and raped her in the presence of her students. She walks home in the rain without clothes, accompanied by her students around her.
The police arrest Raja. He goes to court where Mala can use her evidence to convince the judge who finds Raja guilty. Raja is forced to marry Mala within the next 24 hours so that she does not have to live as an outcast after the rape. Raja is far from satisfied. He goes out with other girls and casts Mala out of his life, but Mala proves to be persistent. He tries to kill Mala by smuggling a poisonous snake into the house while Mala takes a shower. When she comes out of the bathroom, she sees the snake and screams. Raja, waiting outside, assumes the snake has bitten her and goes into the house where Mala passed out. When Raja tries to remove the Sindur , he is bitten by the poisonous snake. Mala comes to again. When she sees what has happened, she sucks on the bite wound and ultimately saves Raja's life. The poison causes Mala to faint again, and Raja realizes that she is actually quite nice. Now only Raja's father has a problem and wants to kill Mala. He smashes a vase on Mala's head. She is immediately driven to the hospital by Raja. They want to know how this came about because Mala is in a very critical condition. The police go on a search and Rai Bahadur, Raja's father, gets nervous. Mala wakes up and lies by saying that she fell off the stairs to save Rai Bahadur. Now she is accepted by the whole family and the two marry with great pomp.
