Michal Broš (born January 25, 1976 in Olomouc , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who was active in the Czech extra league for HC Sparta Prague , BK Mladá Boleslav , HC Olomouc and HC Vsetín , among others . He has been sports manager at Sparta Prague since 2017.
Career
Club career
Michal Broš began his career in 1995 with HC Olomouc , for which he played for two years in the Czech extra league. During the NHL Entry Draft 1995 Broš was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round in 130th place, but remained with his home club. In 1997 he moved to HC Vsetín , with whom he won the Czech championship in 1998. From 1999 he played six seasons for HC Sparta Prague , with which he became Czech champions in 1999 , 2000 and 2002 . During the NHL Expansion Draft 2000 Broš was selected by the Minnesota Wild , but again not signed. After these successes, he signed a contract with Oulun Kärpät from the Finnish SM-liiga in 2005 , where he increased his points yield from year to year and won the Finnish championship title at the end of the 2006/07 season . A year later he was able to repeat this success with his teammates. After this success he returned to the Czech Republic and was signed by HC Sparta Prague. At Sparta he was one of the top performers in the following years and led the team on the ice as captain between 2011 and 2013. Then his contract ran out and Broš moved to the second Czech division, the first division , to BK Mladá Boleslav . With his new team, he made it back to the top division in the Extraliga qualification .
After the 2014/15 season, he ended his playing career.
Michal Broš has been sports manager at HC Sparta Prague since 2017.
International
In addition to his successes at club level, Michal Broš was also able to convince in international championships: he completed two world championships for the Czech national team and won the gold medal in 2000. Overall, Broš completed 47 international matches in which he scored three goals.
