Divya Dutta ( Panjabi ਦਿਵਯਾ ਦੱਤਾ ; Hindi दिव्या दत्ता Divyā Dattā ; born September 25, 1977 in Ludhiana , Punjab ) is an Indian actress who mainly starred in Hindi and Punjabi films.

Career

She made her debut in the 1994 film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna , which flopped. She then played in films such as Veergati , Surakshaa and Ram Aur Shyam . Her first success in the 1990s was the 1999 punjabi film Shaheed-E-Mohabbat directed by Manoj Punj , who later cast her for three other films by him. In 2004 she received a Zee Cine Award and a Global Indian Film Award for best actress in a supporting role for her portrayal of Shabbo in Veer und Zaara - Die Legende einer Liebe . Since then she has got several leading roles, especially in punjabi films and parallel cinema films. She is currently making her first US feature film, Hearth Land . In the 2018 drama Gul Makai she plays the mother of Malala Yousafzai .

Divya Dutta lives in Mumbai with her mother and brother .
