The Gulbiniškiai missile base ( Karmėlava East or Karmėlava East missile base ) was a rocket launch site (missile base) of the Soviet Army in the USSR , in a forest near the village of Gulbiniškiai , about 7 km southwest of the city of Jonava and not far from Karmėlava near Kaunas , in a swampy area of the region, in today's Jonava Rajonggemeinde , Kaunas District , Lithuania . He belonged to the 42nd Missile Regiment of the 58th Missile Division of the 50th Missile Army of Strategic Missile Forces of the Soviet Union (headquarters in Smolensk , Belarus ).

The missile base was established in Soviet Lithuania around 1960 and built by the Soviet Army . The base for ballistic missile was equipped with the necessary infrastructure to provide such a facility. The missile base was intended for R-12 missiles . The excursions are planned by the National Museum of Jonava . At the moment the base has been abandoned, but does not rule out the possibility of future adaptation for tourist purposes.
