Life
Nigel Packam was born in 1951 to a carpenter and grew up in a small English town. From 1962 to 1969 he attended Lewes County Grammar School for Boys . He then completed an undergraduate degree in fine art at Hammersmith College of Art in London from 1969 to 1971 . After working as a “computer operator” from 1972, he moved to the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover .
From 1978 to 1985 Packham studied at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), and attended the courses with Professor Karl Schulz for graphics . In the meantime, from 1980 to 1985, he himself did a teaching position at the HBK, from 1980 also worked as a lecturer for adult education at Workshop Hannover eV and led various projects, including at the Hanover Zoo and for Fluxus .
After graduating, Packham began working as a freelance artist. From 1989 to 2009 he was a member of the studio community at Block 16. In April 2005, Packham was also elected chairman of the Federal Visual Artists Group in Hanover, which he headed until 2011.
For example, Packham teaches acrylic painting in the Raschplatz Pavilion . His applied techniques also include pen drawings and prints, as well as handmade posters.
After Packheim temporarily had his artistic headquarters at Empelder Straße 96 , in the premises of the former Fuchswerke , his " Atelier am Denkmal" can now be found in the Hanoverian district of Badenstedt at Empelder Straße 1 , in a listed residential building from the late 19th century.
